    • PURPOSE: Exhaust gas treatment apparatus and method are provided to effectively remove pollutants among exhaust gas by preventing equipment pollution from by-products like ammonium sulfate generated from an exhaust gas treating process. CONSTITUTION: An exhaust gas treatment apparatus(100) comprises a devulcanizer(110), a denitrificator(120), and an ammonium compound generator(130). The devulcanizer removes sulfur oxide(SOx) from exhaust gas(10). The denitrificator shares a catalyst path with the devulcanizer from the upper part of the devulcanizer, and removes nitrification materials(NOx) from the exhaust gas. The ammonium compound generator includes an exhaust gas detouring path which detours the exhaust gas to the denitrificator from the devulcanizer, and provides ammonia(30) to the exhaust gas along the detouring path to produce ammonium compounds(50). The ammonium compound generator comprises an exhaust gas detouring chamber(132), and an ammonia supply line.

The auxiliary absorption material includes manganese oxide containing active carbon.
