    • The invention relates to the optimization of a known method for the production of a composite body from a basic body of opaque quartz glass and a tight sealing layer, in such a way that the basic body can be provided with the tight sealing layer without changes and deformations worth mentioning in the opaque material. According to the invention, a method is proposed which comprises the following steps: (a) the preparation of the basic body using a first slicker which contains larger amorphous silica particles, (b) the preparation of a second slicker which contains smaller amorphous silica particles and the composition of which differs from that of the first slicker at least in that it contains in the range of 0.2% by weight to 15% by weight of silica nanoparticles and is characterized by a relatively low glazing temperature, (d) the production of a slicker layer from the second slicker on a surface of the basic body, drying of the slicker layer, and (e) subsequently glazing the slicker layer during formation of the tight sealing layer.
