    • Provided are a plate kaolin-ceria composite abrasive which is excellent in polishing velocity and polishing performance and is minimized in the precipitation due to the agglomeration of ceria particles, and a method for preparing the plate kaolin-ceria composite abrasive. The plate kaolin-ceria composite abrasive comprises 5-2,000 parts by weight of a plate kaolin having a major axis length of 5 micrometers or less; and 100 parts by weight of a ceria particle having a diameter of 1 micrometer or less which is mixed or ball-milled on the outer surface of the plate kaolin. Preferably the ceria is a ceria granule having a diameter of 1 micrometer or less prepared in the preparation process of a ceria abrasive or a rare earth element compound containing ceria.
