    • PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device is provided to obtain a good display characteristic preventing an open-circuit of a pixel electrode. CONSTITUTION: The liquid crystal display device comprises: a transparent substrate(110); a nonlinear element(111) formed on the transparent substrate(110) and having a plurality of electrodes; a protective film(103) provided on the nonlinear element; an interlayer insulation film(102) provided on the protective film(103); and a pixel electrode(101) provided on the interlayer insulation film(102), wherein an opening part(104) having a sectional shape of a 'V' slope is formed to the protective film and the interlayer insulation film. The opening part(104) is exposed at a surface of a first electrode(105) among the plurality of electrodes, and has a first end part(104c) formed to the protective film and a second end part(104d) formed to the interlayer insulation film. The first end part is disposed outside more than the second end part, and the pixel electrode is provided to a surface of the opening part. The first electrode of the nonlinear element is contacted with the pixel electrode.

CONSTITUTION: In a reflective type liquid crystal display having one polarizer film, an optical compensator of retardation value Rc hybrid tilt type is arrayed between the polarizer film and the liquid crystal cell. In the other relation, the sum of Ron and Rc equals integer plus one multiplied by half the wavelength where the integer is bigger than or equal to zero.
