    • A method for creating a security mark on an optical data carrier is provided to reduce manufacturing cost of each data carrier by dividing the laser beam emitted from a light source into first and second light beams and tilting a second direction of the second laser beam to the first laser beam direction. A method for generating a security mark on an optical data carrier(1) comprises the steps of: directing first and second light beams(7,6) on a hologram area(10) of the optical data carrier, wherein the first and second light beams are coherent light beams, the first light beam being directed onto the hologram area in a first direction, and the second light beam being directed onto the hologram area in a second direction; and generating the security mark through interference of the first and second light beams. The second direction is tilted by a predefined tilt angle with respect to the first direction. A single light source(3) is used to generate the light beams. A beam divider(5) divides beam emitted from the light source into the first and second light beams.
