摘要： The present invention relates to a system and a method for handling multimedia conference calls in a telecommunication network. In order for a first terminal (111) in a group (110) to determine the capabilities of at least on other terminal (112-114) in the group (110), a query message can be sent to the other terminal (112-114). When using SIP (Session Initiation Protocol), the query is performed by the method of sending an OPTIONS message. A limitation with this method is that each terminal (111) in the group needs to send a query to all the other terminals (112-114) in the group in order to determine the capabilities of each other. The invention comprises a common server (100) which is adapted to collect information about the capabilities for the terminals (112-114) in the group and to determine a common set of capabilities which is sent to the first terminal (111).

The floor may be denied if the media item is larger than a predetermined size. The push to talk type service may be a push to talk over cellular (PoC) service. The push to talk type service may be a general conferencing service.

A message is received (3) at a server (S) from a second terminal (B) inviting a first terminal (A) to establish a push to talk type session. The message comprises a list of media types that the second terminal (B) may send to the first terminal (A) during the session. Prior to that, the server (S) is notified (1) by the first terminal (A) of information specifying, for the or each of at least one media type, in what circumstance, if at all, the first terminal (A) would accept that media type in a push to talk type session. In response to receipt of the invite message, and based on the information, the list of media types is reviewed by the server (S) to leave out any media types that the first terminal (A) would not accept from the second terminal (B). If there remains at least one media type in the list, the invite message, with the reviewed list, is then forwarded (5) to the first terminal. In one embodiment, the invite message is an Invite message of the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), and Session Description Protocol (SDP) parameters are used to specify the list of media types. The push to talk type service may be a push to talk over cellular service (PoC). The push to talk type service may be a conferencing service.

摘要： A method is provided for use in a push to talk type service, in which a floor is required for a terminal to distribute media content to another terminal participating in a push to talk type session. In one aspect of the method, a single floor request message is sent (1) from PoC Client A to PoC Server S. The single floor request message relates to at least two different types of media content. The floor request message indicates, for at least one of the media types, how and/or the extent to which the allowance or denial of the request relating to that media type should affect and/or depend upon the request relating to at least one other media type. For example, the floor request message may indicate, for at least one of the media types, that if the request relating to that media type is denied then the request relating to any other media type should also be denied, i.e. that that media type is required. The floor request message may also indicate, for at least one of the media types, that the allowance or denial of the request relating to that media type should not affect the allowance or denial of the request relating to any other media type, i.e. that that media type is optional. Other conditions and relationships between the various media types in the request message can also be expressed. In another aspect, a plurality of floor request messages can be used, and treated together. The push to talk type service may be a push to talk over cellular service (PoC). The push to talk type service may be a conferencing service.
