CONSTITUTION: In an apparatus for restraining the growth of an oxide film formed on a coiled coil (C), the apparatus is characterized in that a cover (11,12) covering at least both side parts of the coil is installed, wherein an insulating material (19,20) is installed on the cohesion surface between the cover (11,12) and the coil (C), wherein a cooling water passage is installed in the cover, and wherein an inert gas supply passage into a hollow part of the coil and a discharging passage are installed in the cover (11,12). In a method for restraining growth of an oxide film formed on a coiled coil, the method comprises the process of cooling the coil in the state that at least both side parts of the coil are covered by a cover, wherein the method comprises the process of cooling the coil as insulating the cohesion surface between the cover and the coil, wherein the method comprises the process of cooling the coil by circulating cooling water through a cooling water passage installed at the cover, and wherein the method comprises the process of cooling the coil by supplying and discharging an inert gas into and out of the inside of the hollow part of the coil.
