The abrasion of refractory material in the refining furnace is produced by dividing the difference(A) by the other difference(B).

CONSTITUTION: In a refining furnace in which fire brick(13) is constructed, on the upper part of which a top lance(100) is vertically installed, and at the side surface of the lower part of which a tuyere(20) is formed along the outer circumferential surface of the refining furnace so that a pipe(30) for blowing oxygen or inert gas is inserted into the tuyere, the device for agitating slag in the refining furnace is characterized in that a side surface tuyere(40) is formed at a certain position on the side surface corresponding to slag layer of the refining furnace, and a side surface pipe(50) for blowing inert gas into the refining furnace through the side surface tuyere is inserted into the side surface tuyere so that the inert gas is blown into the slag layer, wherein the side surface pipe(50) inserted into the side surface tuyere(40) is structured in a single pipe and connected to an inert gas line to blow the inert gas only into the refining furnace, and wherein the side surface tuyere is formed at an intermediate position between a line corresponding to the slab layer first formed after construction of refractories and a line corresponding to the slag layer just before repairing the refractories.
