    • A PON(Passive Optical Network) system using a CWDW(Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing) scheme is provided to increase data transmission speed two times, as compared with an existing optical communication system, by providing an ONU(Optical Network Units) having plural optical signal conversion modules and a CWDW module. A PON system using a CWDW scheme comprises OLT channel cards(23a-23c), a splitter(24), and ONUs(25c-25c). Each OLT channel card having a PON processor chip(60), plural optical signal conversion modules(40a,40b), and a CWDW module(30) receives a plurality of ethernet signals and converts them into optical signals to carry respectively different wavelengths with data. The splitter(24) redistributes the optical signals generated from the OLT channel cards(23a-23c). Each ONU having a CWDW module(31), plural optical signal conversion modules(50a,50b), and a PON processor chip(61) receives an optical signal from the splitter(24), divides it into plural wavelengths, and converts the wavelength-divided signals into ether signals.
