    • PURPOSE: A gain control apparatus for a low noise amplifier using the detection of a FM RSSI and a method thereof are provided to minimize current consumption by setting a FM low noise amplifier as a non-driving state in a strong electric field area. CONSTITUTION: A FM(Frequency Modulation) receiver(10) receives a radio frequency signal. A RSSI(Received Signal Strength Indicator) detector(20) detects the intensity of a received signal from the FM receiver. A controller(30) generates a control signal by comparing the intensity of a signal detected from the RSSI detector with a preset value. The controller determines whether or not to perform amplification using a low noise amplifier with the generated control signal. A low noise amplifier(40) amplifies the radio frequency signal to be input to the FM receiver. The controller includes a control signal generating part(31) generating the control signal by comparing the intensity of a signal detected from the RSSI detector with a preset critical value. The controller includes a control switch part(32) setting whether or not to perform amplification by the low noise amplifier with the generated control signal.
