    • PURPOSE: A composition for reducing blood glucose containing octaphlorethol A which reduces blood glucose is provided to prevent and treat diabetes or diabetes complications caused by hypertension. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for reducing blood glucose contains octaphlorethol A of chemical formula as an active ingredient. The compound is derived from Ishige foliacea. A method for preparing octaphlorethol A comprises the steps of: adding methanol to Ishige foliacea and obtaining a methanol extract of Ishige foliacea; adding water and ethyl acetate to the extract and obtaining an ethyl acetate fraction; performing silica gel chromatography of the ethyl acetate fraction using chloroform and methanol; performing sephadex LH-20 column chromatography using methanol; and performing high speed liquid chromatography (HLPC).

    • PURPOSE: An Ishige sinicola-originated compound and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to effectively obtain a compound with biological activities, from Ishige sinicola having antibacterial activities and whitening activities. CONSTITUTION: A compound is represented by chemical formula 1. A manufacturing method of the compound comprises a step of milling Ishige sinicola; a step of adding ethanol or methanol to the Ishige sinicola powder; a step of adding fractionating hexane, chloroform, and ethyl acetate; and a step of applying fractionated ethyl acetate to silica gel chromatography using a methanol solvent and chloroform.
