    • The scale on the surface of martensitic stainless steel strip is removed by (1)annealing the hot rolled SUS 420JZ strip as a starting material at batch annealing furnace, (2)shot blasting the annealed strip, and then (3)descaling continuously by electro pickling in a short time. The optimum conditions of electro pickling for descaling are as follows : (a)pickling solution is an sulfuric acid aqueous solution of the concentration of 200 to 300g/L, especially this solution does not contain nitric acid and hydrofluoric acid for perfect control of concentration and bath temperature; (b)current density is 5 to 20A/dm2; (c)electrolytic time is 2 to 3 min; and (d)bath temperature is the room temperature. Compared with the known descaling method by annealing and pickling(AP) line, this descaling method has environment friendlier process.
