    • PURPOSE: The duplicated enhanced uplink (EU) allocation requests, a method for minimizing the failure-isolated EU transmission failures, and an apparatus thereof are provided to efficiently use the physical uplink (UL) resources. CONSTITUTION: A wireless communication system (100) comprises a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) (102), at least one node-B (104), and a radio network controller (RNC) (106). The RNC controls the overall EU operation by comprising the node-B per node-B and the EU parameters of the WTRU. The WTRU transmits the channel allocation request to the node-B through a UL EU channel (110). The node-B transmits the channel allocation information through more than one downlink (DL) EU signaling channel (112). The WTRU transmits the data through the UL EU channel after the EU wireless resources are allocated to the WTRU. The node-B includes a request priority queue (114) for queuing the E-DCH allocation requests and a maximum allocation timer (116) for establishing the E-DCH allocation request response time. The WTRU comprises a channel allocation response timer (118) for generating the periodical channel allocation requests when the WTRU is not receiving the channel allocation from the node-B.
