    • PURPOSE: Provided is a production method of lightweight aggregate composition with high mechanical strength, low water absorption and low production costs by using one or more of wastes such as coal ash, electric arc furnace(EAF) dust, steelmaking slag, etc. CONSTITUTION: The production method of lightweight aggregate composition is as follows: mixing coal ash, EAF dust, steelmaking slag, sewage sludge ash, stone powder, paper sludge ash and aluminum dross in a proper ratio; adding clay to the wastes; filter pressing to make filter cakes containing 20-25% of water; aging the filter cakes; forming the cakes into the first preform and cutting to a proper size; forming the first preform into the second preform with a round shape by passing the first preform through a rotating tube; drying at 100-500deg.C for 0.5-3hrs; sintering at 1050-1200deg.C; and cooling slowly.

    • PURPOSE: A ceramic composition made from waste materials and its preparation method are provided, to recycle the waste materials effectively without exhausting heavy metals and causing the environmental pollution. CONSTITUTION: The ceramic composition comprises 5-75 parts by weight of a solid-stated waste material including heavy metals; 15-45 parts by weight of fly ash; 5-55 parts by weight of clay; and optionally 5-15 parts by weight of aluminium dross. The waste material is selected from electric arc furnace (EAF) dust, steel making slag, paper ash and their mixtures. The method comprises the steps of mixing the composition to prepare a homogeneous slip; forming the slip to obtain a shaped body; crying the shaped body; and sintering the shaped body.

The wastes like EAF dust, steelmaking slag and red mud form liquid phase at the sintering temperature and generate O2 gas, and the other wastes like coal ash, sewage sludge ash and aluminum dross promotes formation of O2 gas, resulting in lightweight aggregates.
