    • A method for increasing the burnup of nuclear fuel used is provided to increase the burnup of nuclear fuel used in order to reduce the amount of nuclear fuel to be accumulated in a fuel storage unit and a transfer container. A method for increasing the burnup of nuclear fuel used comprises the following steps of: generating a series of curves of current burnup vs. concentration, wherein each curve shows fuel assemblies used; measuring actual burnup distribution to an axial direction of the fuel assemblies; recording the number of the used fuel assemblies having reverse burnup distribution to the axial direction; discriminating whether the used fuel assemblies can be applied to a new fuel assembly; finding a point which corresponds to the current burnup and initial concentration to the new fuel assembly; and determining whether the point is located on the applicable curves or not.
