    • PURPOSE: A method for preparing a cyclohexane dicarboxylic ester is provided, to enable a cyclohexane dicarboxylic ester to be prepared without processes for separation and purification by combining a step for synthesis of benzenedicarboxylic ester and a step for hydrogenation, thereby simplifying the process and improving the cost efficiency. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of esterifying benzene dicarboxylic acid or benzene dicarboxylic anhydride with an aliphatic monoalcohol of C4-C14 in the presence of an acid and a catalyst containing Ti, Zr or Sn at a temperature of 100-250 deg.C; and adding an alkaline reagent to the reaction mixture to terminate the esterification, removing the generated water completely and neutralizing the reaction mixture to prepare a cyclohexane dicarboxylic ester. The water generated by neutralization is removed in the presence of a nickel catalyst without other pretreatment, the neutralized esterification mixture is hydrogenated, and the by-products are removed from the mixture to separate a cyclohexane dicarboxylic ester. Preferably the benzenedicarboxylic acid or benzenedicarboxylic anhydride is o-phthalic acid or o-phthalic anhydride.
