    • PURPOSE: A refrigerator and an ice making device for a refrigerator are provided so that a lump of ice transferred from an ice maker is divided into a desired number of ice pieces and then the ice pieces are dispensed. CONSTITUTION: A refrigerator comprises a main body(10), a freezing compartment door, a dispenser, an ice-making unit(200). A freezing compartment(20) is formed in the main body. The freezing compartment door shields the freezing compartment. The dispenser is installed on the freezing compartment door and dispenses the ice pieces of the number input by a user. The ice-making unit is installed in the freezing compartment, freezes the supplied water, divides the ice into a user-input number of ice pieces and transfers the ice pieces to the dispenser. The ice-making unit comprises an ice maker(220), a transfer element(240), a cutting member(250), and a counting member(260). The ice maker generates a lump of ice using the supplied water. The transfer member moves the ice separated from the ice maker. The cutting member successively divides the ice into a desired number of pieces. The counting member checks the ice pieces divided by the cutting member.

    • PURPOSE: A refrigerator is provided to improve user convenience because a basket storing food stuffs can be easily regulated. CONSTITUTION: A refrigerator(1) comprises a cabinet(10), doors(14,15), a basket(20), a friction part, an elastic member, and a handle unit. The cabinet has a storage space in which food stuffs are kept at low temperature. The door selectively shields the storage space. The basket is installed on the backside of a door. The friction part is provided on a side of the basket and contacts the backside of the door. The elastic member exerts a force against the friction part in the direction perpendicular to the contact surface between the frictional part and the door. The handle unit is installed on the basket and carried upward to move the friction part to be separated from the backside of the door.

    • PURPOSE: An ice maker and a control method thereof are provided to regularly supply a predetermined amount of water to an ice-making tray. CONSTITUTION: An ice maker comprises: a water supply valve(9) which supplies water to an ice making tray(5) of a refrigerator; a water level sensor(7a,7b) which measures an amount of water which is provided to the ice making tray and includes one or more capacitance sensors; and a controller unit. The water level sensor is arranged on the upper side of the bottom side of the ice making tray to sense the level of the supplying water. The controller unit controls the water supply valve so that the level of the water which is provided to the ice making tray is arrived to the predetermined reference water level.
