The diffraction grating divides diffraction light, which is diffracted by the recording medium, according to the number of diffraction. The light receiving unit is configured to receive the beam divided by the diffraction grating. The light emitting unit projects one beam to the recording medium. The diffraction light includes a 0 beam and a ±1 beam. 0 beam and +1 beam, and 0 beam and -1 beam overlap partially when reflected from the optical disk. The light receiving unit receives a main signal and a sub signal. The 0 beam, passed through the diffraction grating, is the main signal. The ±1 beam, passed through the diffraction grating, is the sub signal.

    • An optical pick-up is provided to remove interlayer noise in a multi-layer disk and to remove influence of a dead zone by diffracting some of the projected beams through first and second diffraction devices. An optical pick-up comprises a light source(110), an objective lens(170), a beam splitter(130), first and second diffraction devices, a sensor lens(180), and a beam detecting unit(190). The first diffraction device generates the second beam from the beam reflected from a beam storage medium. The beam detecting unit includes a first detecting unit for receiving the first beam, and two sub detecting units for receiving the second beam. The second diffraction device diffracts some of the beam reflected by another layer to prevent the beam from entering the beam detecting unit. The first and second diffraction devices include first and second areas for diffracting some of the projected beam.

    • An optical pickup is provided to obtain a stable error signal and to improve reproducing or recording performance thereof by decreasing interference between the layers of a multi-layered disc. An optical pickup(100) comprises a beam source(110), an objective lens(160), a beam splitter(130), a diffraction grating(140), a sensor lens(170), and an optical detecting unit(180). The beam source emits a beam with predetermined wavelength. The objective lens collects the beam emitted from the beam source at an optical storage medium. The beam splitter penetrates or reflects the beam emitted from the beam source, and the beam reflected at the optical storage medium. The diffraction grating diffracts a part of the beam passed through a first area, among the beams divided and reflected from the optical storage medium, and diffracts the part of the beam passed through a second area inside the first area at a position different from the position where the beam diffracted by the first area is focused. The sensor lens generates a luminous point at the beam reflected from the optical storage medium. The optical detecting unit includes a main detecting unit and two first sub detecting units. The main detecting unit receives the beam passed through the diffraction grating directly, and the two first sub detecting units receive the beam diffracted by the first area.

    • 본 발명은 광 픽업에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 일 실시예에서, 디스크에서 0차 및 +/- 1차 빔으로 분기된 상태로 반사될 때 +/- 1차 빔에 대응되는 영역을 포함하지 않는 제 1 패턴에 의해 0차 빔이 회절하여 서브 빔이 형성되고, 다른 층에서 반사되는 빔이 제 1 패턴에 의해 서브 빔을 수광하는 서브 빔용 PD에 회절되지 않도록 제 1 패턴 내에 제 2 패턴이 형성된다. 이때, 서브 빔용 PD는 다른 층에서 반사되어 제 1 패턴과 제 2 패턴을 그대로 통과하는 빔의 유효 반경 밖에 위치해야 하고, 이를 위해 제 1 패턴의 회절 각도가 조절된다. 따라서, 다른 층에서 반사되는 빔이 서브 빔에 입사하지 않게 되어, 안정적인 트래킹 에러 신호를 얻고 재생 또는 기록 성능이 향상된다.
