    • An improved tray or trays for use in an exchange column comprised of divided walls and an improved cryogenic air separation apparatus having an improved tray or trays for use in an exchange column comprised of divided walls are provided to solve various difficulties and disadvantages of the prior art to provide better and more favorable results. As an assembly of plural vertically distanced trays for fractional distillation in an exchange column comprised of divided walls having an inner column wall(11), a dividing wall(14), a cross section, and an internal space between the inner column wall and the dividing wall, the tray assembly comprises: a first tray(10) comprising at least one radial downcomer(12) which is adjacent to the dividing wall and extends in a radial direction toward the inner column wall as long as a first substantial distance across the cross section, and a first liquid receiving region which has a radial axis formed at a first angle relative to the dividing wall and extends in a radial direction toward the inner column wall as long as a second substantial distance across the cross section; and a second tray comprising at least one other downcomer which has a radial axis formed at a second angle relative to the dividing wall and extends in a radial direction toward the inner column wall as long as a third substantial distance across the cross section, and at least one second liquid receiving region which is adjacent to the dividing wall and extends in a radial direction toward the inner column wall as long as a fourth substantial distance across the cross section.
