CONSTITUTION: In this glass panel for the color cathode-ray tube, a linear absorption coefficient of X-ray of the wavelength 0.06 nm is 30-38 cm¬-1, and a layer having the compression stress of 70 MPa or higher is formed by a chemical reinforcement method, on at least the minor axis end part and/or the major axis end part of an outer surface of a face part, and a central part of an inner surface of the face part.

    • PURPOSE: A funnel glass for cathode ray tubes is provided which is useful for television receivers and computer terminal displays. CONSTITUTION: A funnel glass containing PbO for cathode ray tubes comprises:based on 100 wt.% of oxide, more than 1.0 wt.% of SrO, more than 1.0 wt.% of BaO, and less than 0.69 wt.% of PbO based on the total weight of PbO, SrO, BaO, CaO and MgO. The glass has a dissolved lead amount of less than 1.0 microgram/square centimeter and X-ray absorption coefficient of higher than 40 centimeter¬-1 at 0.6 angstrom in wavelength, wherein the dissolved lead amount of the glass is measured by immersing the glass in a distilled ion-exchange water for 20 hours, taking the glass out of the distilled ion-exchange water, measuring the lead content in the distilled ion-exchange water with a plasma emission spectrometer and dividing the measurement value by the surface area of the glass.
