    • Disclosed are: a method for producing a crosslinked polyvinyl acetal resin, which can produce a crosslinked polyvinyl acetal resin having high mechanical strength and excellent solvent resistance in a simple manner without the need of using any crosslinking agent, and which can overcome the problems such as sheet-attack, strength poverty and unsatisfactory long-term viscosity stability; and a crosslinked polyvinyl acetal resin produced by employing the method. Specifically, the method for producing a crosslinked polyvinyl acetal resin comprises the step of irradiating a polyvinyl acetal resin having at least constituent units represented by the general formulae (1), (2), (3) and (4) with an ultraviolet ray having a wavelength of 200 to 365 nm. (1)-(4) wherein Rrepresents a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms; and Rrepresents a group having two or more pieces of at least one functional group selected from the group consisting of a functional group represented by the general formula (5), a functional group represented by the general formula (6) and a functional group represented by the general formula (7).
