    • A method and an apparatus for transmitting and receiving data in a communication system are provided to save required resources in transmitting data as a BS(Base Station) and an RS(Relay Station) transmit identical data in multicast. If the first data to be transmitted are generated, a BS detects and groups the first and second MSs(Mobile Stations) which will receive the first data. In order to transmit data to the MSs in multicast together with an RS, the BS transmits the first data to an RS through the first interval which uses the first resource of a downlink sub-frame(400). The first MS receives the first data transmitted to the RS from the BS(402). If the RS receives the first data transmitted from the BS, the RS transmits the first data to the second MS which belongs to the RS(404). In this case, the first data are transmitted through the second interval which uses the second resource of the downlink sub-frame.

    • An apparatus and a method for transmitting/receiving CQI(Channel Quality Indication) in a communication system are provided to transmit/receive a CQI by using an average CQI method by MS(Mobile Station) group having a spatial association. A BS(Base Station)(200) searches MSs which are located within a certain range and have similar slow fading characteristics and groups them(208), and transmits a group_CQI_pair message to the first MS(202) among the MSs belonging to the group. Upon receiving the group_CQI_pair message, the first MS generates an ACK message indicating that the group_CQI_pair message has been received without an error, and transmits it to the BS(210). The BS transmits the group_CQI_pair message to the second MS(204)(212). The second MS transmits the ACK message and transmits it to the BS(214). The BS transmits the group_CQI_pair message to the nth MS(206)(216). The nth MS transmits the ACK message to the BS(218). When the first MS is designated as a representative terminal, it generates an average CQI and generates and transmits a CQI_feedback message to the BS(220). When the second MS is designated as a representative terminal, it generates a CQI_feedback message including an average CQI and transmits it to the BS(222). When the nth MS is designated as a representative terminal, it generates a CQI_feedback message including an average CQI and transmits it to the BS(224). When the first MS is designated as a representative terminal, it generates a CQI_feedback message including an average CQI and transmits it to the BS(226).

    • A system and a method for transmitting and receiving data in a communication system are provided to minimize the power consumption of an MS(Mobile Station) by using a downlink scheduling scheme and an uplink power control scheme when the MS is in a battery shortage state. An MS in a dormant or idle state compares its residual battery capacity with a preset threshold. If it is confirmed that the residual battery state is smaller than or equal to the preset threshold(405), the MS transmits a MOB_LBAT_IND(Mobile Lack Battery Indication) message to a BS(Base Station)(407). Receiving the MOB_LBAT_IND message, the BS judges that the MS is in a battery shortage state(409), and transmits a MOB_LBAT_ACK(Mobile Lack Battery Acknowledgement) message to the MS(411). Receiving the MOB_LBAT_ACK message, the MS transits to the battery shortage state(413).
