A guiding method for taking an image in a portable terminal with a camera according to the present invention comprises the steps of previewing an image of a camera on a screen; detecting a guide requesting event from an input unit in the previewing process; generating a background guiding image using a frame which stands by for being previewed in response to the guiding request event; and displaying the background guide image on the previewed image.
