    • A public key infrastructure based bluetooth key system and an operating method thereof are provided to perform a remote unlocking function between a locking unit and a mobile communication terminal. A locking unit(320) performs bluetooth communication and transmits data based the public key infrastructure. The mobile communication terminal(300) performs the remote unlocking or keyless entry function through the bluetooth communication with the locking unit. The locking unit includes a bluetooth module, a public key generating unit, an encoding/decoding unit, and an operation controller. The public key generating unit transmits the data based on the public key infrastructure. The public key encoding/decoding unit performs the encoding and decoding for transmitting and receiving the generated public key to the mobile communication terminal. An operation controller controls the unlocking function of the locking unit according to the remote keyless entry command/instruction of the mobile communication terminal.
