摘要： A free fall detection method of a disc drive and an apparatus therefor are provided to prevent a detection error by an external force temporarily generated in the drive when the drive freely falls by accurately detecting whether the drive freely falls by using the first threshold value for detecting a free fall start time and the second threshold value for detecting whether the free fall of the drive is continued. An acceleration measuring unit(400) measures the instantaneous acceleration of a disc drive. If the instantaneous acceleration measured in the acceleration measuring unit(400) is greater than the first threshold value, a free fall start detecting unit(410) outputs a free fall monitoring signal. If the free fall monitoring signal is received from the free fall start detecting unit(410) and the acceleration measured in the acceleration measuring unit(400) is continuously maintained as the second threshold value or more during a certain time, a free fall progress detecting unit(420) judges that the disc drive freely falls.

摘要： 본 발명은 하드디스크 드라이브의 충격 보호 방법에 관한 것으로서 더욱 상세하게는 하드디스크 드라이브에 인가되는 가속도 센서에서 발생되는 오프셋을 보상하기 위한 오프셋 보상 방법, 이를 수행하는 프로그램이 저장된 기록매체 그리고 이에 적합한 장치에 관한 것이다.
본 발명에 따른 가속도 검출기의 오프셋 보상 방법은
서로 직각을 이루는 적어도 2축에 대한 가속도 검출치를 출력하는 가속도 검출기의 오프셋 보상 방법에 있어서, 상기 가속도 검출기의 검출치들에 근거하여 산출되는 가속도 벡터의 소정 시간 동안의 변동치를 참조하여 상기 가속도 검출기가 안정 상태에 있는 지를 판단하는 과정; 상기 가속도 검출기가 안정 상태에 있는 것으로 판단되면, 상기 가속도 검출기의 검출치들에 근거하여 지구 중심을 향해 실질적으로 수직인 주축이 있는 지를 판단하는 과정; 그리고 안정 상태이고 주축이 있는 것으로 판단되면, 상기 가속도 벡터의 0G 오프셋을 보상하는 과정을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
본 발명에 따른 오프셋 보상 방법은 FFS의 검출치들을 보상함에 의해 자유 낙하 상태의 미검출 및 오검출을 제거할 수 있으므로, 하드디스크 드라이브의 신뢰성을 향상시키는 효과를 가진다.

摘要： Embodiments of the invention provide a method for compensating for an acceleration vector offset of an acceleration detector, a recording medium storing a program for executing the method, and an apparatus adapted to perform the method. The method comprises determining whether the acceleration detector is in a stable resting state; if the acceleration detector is determined to be in a stable resting state, then determining whether any one of at least two orthogonal axes is a main axis; and, if the acceleration detector is determined to be in a stable resting state and one of the at least two orthogonal axes is determined to be a main axis, performing an acceleration vector compensation operation to compensate for the acceleration vector offset of the acceleration detector.
