    • An automatic control device of an optical disk player and a method thereof are provided to obtain a step value for automatic control in a product manufacturing process to store the obtained step value, and to apply the stored value in case that the optical disk player is used, thereby decreasing an unnecessary controlling operation caused by hardware deflection. A pickup unit(102) outputs an RF(Radio Frequency) signal picked up from an optical disk(100). An RF signal processor(108) processes the RF signal of the pickup unit(102), and outputs the processed RF signal. A memory(118) stores a step value for automatic control. A controller(116) sets the step value by comparing a level of the RF signal outputted from the processor(108) with a set target signal level, and controls an operation of controlling the level of the RF signal by using the set step value.

    • An apparatus for discriminating an optical disc and a discriminating method thereof are provided to reduce a lead-in time in a DVD disc by removing a controller driving time, a stabilizing time, and a stopping time for controlling a focus and a spindle. An apparatus for discriminating an optical disc comprises a spindle motor(60) rotating an optical disc, an optical pickup(10), an RF part(20), and a micro computer(50). The optical pickup emits a laser beam to the optical disc, detects the beam reflected from the optical disc, and controls a focus. The RF part generates a track error signal by the signal input from the optical pickup. The micro computer repairs a track error coefficient of the optical disc when the comparison between the track error signal and a pre-determined reference value indicates that the optical disc corresponds to the track error coefficient.
