    • PURPOSE: A method for operating a light source and display device therefor are provided to stably operate a light source unit including light emitting strings. CONSTITUTION: A light source unit(210) includes a plurality of light emitting strings and provides light to a display module. A light source operating unit(240) includes an inverter, a voltage transformer, a compensator, and a rectifier. The inverter inverts a DC voltage into a first AC voltage. The voltage transformer transfers the first AC voltage into a second AC voltage. The compensator compensates for an operating AC voltage based on the second AC voltage to flow the amount of currents in the light emitting strings. The rectifier applies driving voltages to the light emitting strings by rectifying the operating AC voltage.

    • A power supply apparatus and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) including the same are provided to transmit or intercept a second direct current voltage into a second direct current-alternating current converting member, thereby providing the power voltage to lamps selectively. The first DC(Direct Current)-AC(Alternating Current) converting member(250) is enabled by a driving signal, converts DC voltage into the first AC voltage, boosts the first AC voltage and provides the boosted AC voltage as power voltage. A switching member(260) transmits the driving signal selectively in response to a selection signal. When the driving signal is transmitted by the switching member, the second DC-AC converting member(270) is enabled by the driving signal, converts DC voltage into the second AC voltage, boosts the second AC voltage and provides the boosted AC voltage as power voltage. The first and second DC-AC converting members include a half-bridge inverter, a full-bridge inverter or a push-pull inverter.

CONSTITUTION: A light source module for a method for powering a light source is composed as follows. A light source unit(300) comprises multiple light emitting diodes. A system power source unit(410) generates first DC voltage by receiving AC voltage from the outside. A drive voltage generation unit(420) generates second DC voltage which is the difference between drive voltage and the first DC voltage based on the first DC voltage and outputs the sum of the first and second DC voltage to the light source unit. An AC/DC converter converts AC voltage into third DC voltage. A DC/DC converter converts the third DC voltage into the first DC voltage.
