摘要： PURPOSE: A method and apparatus for forming precis ion cuts in catheters and guide wires is provided for increasing throughput of a device which forms cuts in cylindrical objects by providing multiple saw blades on a single cutting tool. CONSTITUTION: A system for forming precis ion cuts in a catheter, the system comprises: abase member(10); a vertically movable member(14) slidably coupled to the base member(10); a horizontally moveable member(24) having a spindle end and being slidably coupled to the vertically movable member(14); at least one rotatable spindle(32) disposed through the spindle end; a plurality of circular saw blades(38), wherein the saw blades(38) are mounted in parallel and coaxially on the at least one spindle, and wherein each of the plurality of circular saw blades has a same diameter; a drive means coupled to the at least one spindle for rotating the at least one circular saw blade; a clamping member(50) coupled to the base member; a clamping device disposed within the clamping member to thereby engage the catheter while the at least one circular saw blade makes an incision there through.
