    • An envelope detector (ED) includes: a voltage-mode ED core which includes parallel detection transistors for detecting an envelope of a radio frequency (RF) signal input. The detection transistors are configured to make transistors be biased in sub-threshold operating regions with arbitrary size and arbitrary current. The ED core is formed to variably control the bias current which passes through the detection transistors and the bias current enhances a linear range of the ED by being varied according to a voltage amplitude of the RF signal input while the detection transistors continue to operate in the sub-threshold regions. A linearizer circuit is formed to control the bias current based on feedback inputs from ED outputs. The linearizer circuit, prior to the ED core which can include gain-programmable voltage amplifiers and a specialized class-AB amplifier, controls an output voltage of transmitter to the input range of the ED core and therefore, the linear range of the ED is extended.
