    • PURPOSE: When conventional siloxane compounds are used for coating after being preserved for longer time than decided time, properties of the coating, such as hardness and resistance for boiling water, are deteriorated. The reason of the deterioration is that a silanol-substrate reactive functional group is reduced by slow polymerization reaction due to the high reactivity of the silanol group in the compound. Therefore the utility of the siloxane compound may be improved significantly if the improvement of their stability in the liquid state is possible. CONSTITUTION: Siloxane compound has high degree of polymerization and high storage stability because it can be maintained in transparent liquid state over 1 year without causing the compositional change. The compound can be used for hard coating in the form of hydrolyzed solution. And because compatibility with various type of organic compound such as resin is superior, the siloxane compound may be used to give hydrophile to a coating formed by hardening liquid composition by mixing the siloxane compound with the compatible organic compound, or to improve properties of the coating such as contamination resistance, acid resistance, chemical resistance, weather resistance and heat resistance. In formula, R1 is methyl or ethyl, and R2 is organic group different from R1.
