    • PURPOSE: An electric humidity display device and an operating method thereof are provided to provide excellent penetration efficiency by improving response time of an electric humidity device. CONSTITUTION: A first fluid (310) and a second fluid (320) are arranged in order not to mix in the space between a first panel and a second panel facing each other. The first panel comprises a first electrode (110), a second electrode (120), and a hydrophobic layer (140). The first electrode is formed on a first substrate (101). The second electrode is separated from the first electrode. The hydrophobic layer is located between the first electrode and the second electrode and is included in order to show the tendency to separate from the second fluid. The second panel includes a second substrate (201) and a third electrode (210) located on the second substrate. A first potential difference is formed on between the first electrode and the third electrode so that the first fluid moves to the second electrode. The first potential difference is removed, and a second potential difference is formed on between the second electrode and the third electrode so that the first fluid moves to a first electrode side. The second potential difference is removed so that the speed in which the first fluid moves to the first electrode side is lowered, and the movement of the fluid is stopped.

    • PURPOSE: An electrowetting display device with barriers having different hydrophilicity and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to reduce hysteresis and to drive with low voltage. CONSTITUTION: Barriers (140) have a first barrier surface (141) and a second barrier surface (143) laterally positioned inside of a pixel (20). Hydrophobic fluid (210) has a first edge (213) contacted to the first barrier surface with the thickness (S); and a second edge (215) contacted to the second barrier surface with thickness (D). The thickness of the first edge is thinner than the thickness of the second edge and is thicker than 0. When voltage is provided from the outside of the pixel to a pixel electrode (120), the hydrophobic fluid moves from the thin first edge to thick second edge. When hydrophilic fluid (230) moves from the first barrier surface or the first edge of the hydrophobic fluid to the second barrier surface or the second edge, the hydrophobic fluid starts moving. The hydrophilic fluid gradually moves toward the second barrier surface to move the hydrophobic fluid.
