CONSTITUTION: A hydraulic cylinder device(120) for vertical balance of a cross rail for a machine tool comprises a hydraulic cylinder(130) and leveling unit(140). The hydraulic cylinder comprises a cylinder body(131) and cylinder rod(132). The cylinder rod is extended or contracted. An end part of the cylinder rod is joined to a cross rail. The lower part of the leveling unit is fixed on a plane where the machine is installed, at a position spaced from the machine tool. The upper part of the leveling unit supports the cylinder body. The leveling unit transfers the hydraulic cylinder to an X-axis or Y-axis with respect to the installation plane so that a top and bottom balance of the cross rail is maintained.
