There is provided an aluminum paste composition for formation of electrode (8) on silicon semiconductor substrate (1), comprising aluminum powder, an organic vehicle and a plasticizer. Further, there is provided a solar cell device including electrode (8) formed by coating silicon semiconductor substrate (1) with the paste composition with the above characteristics and firing the paste composition.

    • Provided are a paste composition and a solar cell element having an electrode formed by using such paste composition. The paste composition sufficiently achieves BSF effects equivalent to conventional BSF effects or more when it is used for forming a thick rear electrode layer on a thick silicon semiconductor substrate or for forming a thin rear electrode layer on a thin silicon semiconductor substrate. When the paste composition is used for forming the thin rear electrode layer on the thin silicon semiconductor substrate, the BSF effects equivalent to the conventional BSF effects or more are achieved and deformation of the silicon semiconductor substrate is suppressed after burning. The paste composition contains aluminum powder as conductive powder, and the total content of iron and titanium contained as unavoidable impurity elements in the paste composition is 0.07 mass% or less. The solar cell element is provided with a rear electrode (8) formed by applying the paste composition on the rear surface of the silicon semiconductor substrate (1) and then burning the work.
