摘要： The needles are mounted in the printing head by an annular array of armatures and guides. Selected needles are caused to reciprocate towards and away from the paper by pivoting of the armatures in response to selective energisation of an excitation coil. A respective return spring is disposed coaxially about the rear end of each needle. Each armature is held between a spring and a yoke, and its motion is limited by a stop. Each needle extends through a respective elliptical hole formed in an ink tank. The needles are connected to electrical earth whilst 1.8 to 12.0 kilovolts is applied to the electrode to provide the required electrostatic force field.
