    • PURPOSE: A manufacturing method for 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane is provided to substitute for CFC and HCFC and to be used for a foaming agent, a coolant, and a detergent not destroying ozone in ozone layer. CONSTITUTION: A process for preparing 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane by reacting at least one member selected among chlorofluoropropanes and chloropropanes represented by the general formula CX3CH2CHX2 (wherein X represents a fluorine atom or a chlorine atom, provided that not all the X's simultaneously represent fluorine atoms), with antimony chloride fluoride. The 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane which substitutes for CFC and HCFC and is industrially important as a foaming agent, a refrigerant, a detergent and a propellant which do not destroy ozone in the ozone sphere can be economically prepared in a high yield.
