    • PURPOSE: A process of producing a polymer optical waveguide is provided to produce a polymer optical waveguide, in which nevertheless a wet process not including a development step, an overcladding layer is formed in a flat shape on a core layer, and a resin to be used is freely chosen. CONSTITUTION: An undercladding layer(2) is formed on a substrate(1). A photosensitive resin composition layer containing a 1,4-dihydropyridine derivative and a resin is formed on the undercladding layer. An irradiating process is performed to irradiate a region of the photosensitive resin composition layer corresponding to a core pattern with UV light through a mask to form UV light-exposed areas and UV light-unexposed areas on the photosensitive resin composition layer. A heating process is performed to heat the UV light-exposed areas and UV light-unexposed areas of the photosensitive resin composition layer. An overcladding layer(6) is formed on the photosensitive resin composition layer after heating.

    • PURPOSE: A method for fabricating an optical waveguide for connecting optically two or more optical devices and a connection structure of an optical device are provided to simplify the entire fabrication process by reducing the number of fabrication processes. CONSTITUTION: A method for fabricating an optical waveguide includes a disposing process, a forming process, and a removing process. The disposing process is performed to dispose a resin composition between two or more optical devices(1,3). The resin composition includes a resin and a 1,4-dihydropyridine derivative. The forming process is performed to form an optical path through the resin composition between the optical devices by light having a wavelength capable of inducing a structural change in the 1,4-dihydropyridine derivative. The removing process is performed to remove the 1,4-dihydropyridine derivative from the resulting resin composition.

    • PURPOSE: Provided is a method for preparing a 3D polyimide optical waveguide by using a laser light of low power which does not respond to poly(amic acid) and responds to a sensitizer even without employing dry process. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of concentrating a laser light to the inside of a poly(amic acid) layer comprising 100 parts by weight of a poly(amic acid) obtained from a tetracarboxylic acid dihydrate and a diamine and 0.5-10 parts by weight of a 1,4-dihydropyridine derivative represented by the formula 1, and irradiating the laser light with relatively moving the concentrated point; heating the poly(amic layer) to imidate it, thereby obtaining an optical waveguide having a continuous core zone having changed refractive index in the inside of the formed polyimide layer. In the formula 1, Ar is an aromatic group having a nitro group at the o-position to the bonding part to a 1,4-dihydropyridine ring; R1 is H or a C1-C3 alkyl group; R2, R3, R4 and R5 are independently H or a C1-C2 alkyl group. Preferably the tetracarboxylic acid dihydrate and/or the diamine contains a fluorine atom.
