    • Disclosed is a thermoplastic resin composed of a block copolymer or a graft copolymer having a crystalline norbornene ring-opening polymer hydride unit (A) and a non-crystalline polymer unit (B) having a glass transition temperature of 40-300°C. Also disclosed is a method for producing such a thermoplastic resin wherein a block copolymer or a graft copolymer having a norbornene ring-opening polymer unit (C) and a polymer unit (D) which is to be the non-crystalline polymer unit (B) after hydrogenation reaction is hydrogenated in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst. Further disclosed is a molding material containing such a thermoplastic resin. This thermoplastic resin is excellent in transparency, heat resistance and mechanical strength.
