    • PURPOSE: A cathode ray tube is provided to reduce the total length of the cathode ray tube by optimizing an electron gun. CONSTITUTION: A funnel(2) is connected to one end of a neck(1). A panel(3) is coupled to an opening end having a large diameter of the funnel(2). A stem(4) is connected to the other end of the neck(1). A single-beam type electron gun(5) is provided within the neck(1) having an outer diameter of 29.1 mm. The electron gun(5) is provided with an indirectly-heated cathode(10), a beam control electrode(11), an accelerating electrode(12), a third electrode(13), a focusing electrode(14), and an anode(15), which are disposed at regular intervals. Each of which receives a predetermined voltage applied through a stem pin(9) embedded on the stem(4). The panel(3) acts as a lens and is provided with a fluorescent screen(16) having a diagonal diameter of 5.5 inch therein. An aluminium layer(17) is deposited on a surface of the fluorescent screen(16), which faces the electron gun(5). A button(18) for applying a positive voltage is buried on the funnel(2). A positive voltage by the button(18) is applied to the third electrode(13) and the anode(15). Electron beam emitted from the electron gun(5) is deflected by a deflection yoke(7) to be incident upon the fluorescent screen(16).

CONSTITUTION: A color cathode ray tube includes third, fourth and fifth electrodes(4,5,6) and an anode(7) in its electron beam focusing section.
