摘要： PURPOSE: A method for generating form definition data used for the OCR(Optical Character Recognition) and a form processing device are provided to automatically generate the form definition data for various forms even if the form is filled up or empty. CONSTITUTION: The device comprises a PC(101), a display(102), a keyboard(103), a mouse(104), and a scanner(105). Application software is installed to the PC. An image input part(107) inputs image data of the form(106) by controlling the scanner. A form definition data generator(108) automatically extracts the form definition data from the image data specified from an input device such as the keyboard or the mouse by referring to a character recognition dictionary(110), an item name combination knowledge dictionary(111), and an item name-definition information conversion dictionary(112). A form definition data output part(109) outputs the form definition data extracted by the form definition data generator and the form definition data is registered to a form definition data database(113).
