    • [PROBLEMS] To provide a method of holding a turbocharger housing and a work holding device capable of accurately internally holding the turbocharger housing during machining based on its shape in casting. The work holding device (1) comprises a cylindrical body (2), a plunger (3) reciprocatingly moved along the axial direction of the body (2), a jaw (4) having a holding face (24) holding the work (W) and a radial-outwardly projected contact face (5) formed at the end edge of the holding face (24) in the direction receding from the body (2) and moving in the radial direction of the body (2) in conjunction with the plunger (3), and a pusher (6) pressing the work (W) in the direction receding from the body (2) according to the movement of the plunger (3). Further, the work holding device presses the work (W) against the contact face (5) by the pusher (6), and internally holds the work (W).
