    • An apparatus and a method for controlling an audio output in a TV and radio broadcast receiver are provided to prevent unnecessary power consumption and noise generation automatically in receiving stereo or mono audio through a TV broadcast service or a radio broadcast service. A microcomputer discriminates a type of a selected broadcast service(S11). If the service type is a radio broadcast service, the microcomputer selectively enables the first to fourth speakers installed at a stand(S12). The microcomputer controls an operation of an audio processor to output stereo or mono audio received through the radio broadcast service via the enabled first to fourth speakers. The microcomputer checks a type of audio received through a TV broadcast service. If the audio type is a general stereo or mono audio, the microcomputer selectively enables the first and second speakers installed at a display head(S14). The microcomputer controls an operation of the audio processor to output stereo or mono audio received through the TV broadcast service via the first and second speakers of the display head(S15). If the type of audio is audio of a 5.1 channel, the microcomputer enables all the first and second speakers of the display head and the first to fourth speakers of the stand(S16). The microcomputer controls the operation of the audio processor to output the audio of 5.1 channel received through the TV broadcast service via the first and second speakers of the display head and the first to fourth speakers of the stand(S17).

    • A digital broadcast receiver and a method for reservation-recording a broadcast program are provided to allow a user to reservation-record a desired broadcast program even without accurate information about the broadcast program. One or more reservation channels are registered(310). A reservation-recording time for each of the registered reservation channels is also registered(320). When the reservation-recording time comes, a system of a digital broadcast receiver is powered on(340). A part of broadcast data, which are received from the channel registered as the reservation-channel, is stored as a reservation program, according to a predetermined reference(350). If the recording of the reservation program is completed, it is checked whether broadcast data continuously received from the reservation channel correspond to the next reservation program. If the broadcast data received from the reservation channel correspond to the next reservation program, the next reservation program is recorded to substitute the previously stored reservation program(370).
