    • PURPOSE: A polyester fiber plank and a manufacturing method thereof are provided, which has excellent heat insulating effect, excellent sound absorption effect and excellent mechanical property, being possible to recycle and being useful for materials for construction and industry. CONSTITUTION: The polyester fiber plank is prepared by mixing over 50wt.% of a high melting point polyester fiber and below 50wt.% of a low melting point polyester fiber having over 50deg.C of rather low melting point than the high melting point polyester fiber, and is melted on low temperature. The plank has 0.15-0.45g/cm¬3 of density and 1.0-4.0N/mm¬2 of bending strength. The polyester plank is obtained by a process containing the steps of: mixing the high melting point polyester fiber and the low melting point polyester fiber to produce a web; pre-heating the mixed web with hot blast having low temperature based on a melting point of the high melting point polyester; cooling and compressing with a cooling-compressing roller; and then forming and cooling. The temperature of the hot blast is 120-200deg.C, and the temperature of the cooling-compressing process and the forming-cooling process are below 5deg.C.
