    • PURPOSE: A process for manufacturing metallic hydride by joule energy is provided, wherein a metal is instantaneously heated to a hydrogen penetrating temperature without heat loss by resistance heat generated by the metal itself so as to manufacture the metallic hydride using low energy for a short period of time. CONSTITUTION: The process comprises the step of cooling the heated metal after heating the metal to a temperature at which hydrogen is penetrated into the metal using resistance heat of the metal itself by applying current to a metal at a hydrogen atmosphere, wherein the heating process of the metal is performed by applying current to the metal for less than 10 seconds so that the metal is heated to the temperature range of hydrogenation temperature to melting point, and wherein the metal is water cooled as it is being heated.
