    • PURPOSE: An active electrode material for rechargeable lithium ion batteries is provided to ensure large capacity and/or many recharge cycles and to enable the preparation by low temperature ammonolysis or reaction of urea and acetylide using transition metal halide. CONSTITUTION: A method for providing an activated electrode material for a lithium ion battery comprises the steps of: selecting a basic semiconductor material; selecting a crystal structure enabling intercalation/deintercalation of Li ions as low deformation work; selecting a material with big energy gap or band gap between a valence band and a conduction band; selecting or designing a lithium-containing activated electrode for discharging lithium in charge and/or an activated electrode for accommodating lithium in charge; and selecting activated electrode materials.
