    • PURPOSE: A process for preparing lercanidipine hydrochloride is provided, thereby mass-producing lercanidipine hydrochloride under mild condition with improved convenience and yield because a side-product is simply removed by using a coupling agent DCC. CONSTITUTION: The process for preparing lercanidipine hydrochloride represented by formula (1) comprises reacting 2,6-dimethyl-5-methoxycarbonyl-4- (3-nitrophenyl)-1,4-dihydropyrine-3-carboxylic acid of formula (2) with 2,N-dimethyl-N-(3,3-diphenylpropyl)-1-amino-2-propanol of formula (3) in the presence of a coupling agent and catalyst in solvent at 60 to 120 deg. C, wherein the coupling agent is dicyclohexylcarbodiimide(DCC), 1-hydroxybenzotriazol, or diethylcyanophosphonate; the catalyst is 4-dimethylaminopyridine, N-hydroxysuccineimide, or 4-pyrolidinopyridine; and the solvent is toluene, xylene, dimethylformamide, chloroform, 1,2-dichloroethane or tetrahydrofuran.
