    • Disclosed are a conveying roll and a conveying section comprising a conveying roll. The conveying roll comprises a covering element (20), a bearing (30), and a braking mechanism (50). The inventive conveying roll is characterized by an impeding device (60) which is disposed between the bearing point (40) and the covering element (20) at a point in the braking train of the braking mechanism and allows or prevents the braking mechanism to have or from having a braking effect in accordance with a direction of rotation of the covering element relative to the bearing point (40).
