    • A novel heteropolyacid catalyst that is excellent in conversion rate of methacrolein and selectivity and yield of methacrylic acid is provided, and a preparing method of the novel heteropolyacid catalyst is provided. A heteropolyacid catalyst is represented by the formula, PMo12VaCsbKcXdYe(Q(PO4)f)gOx, where X is at least one metal component selected from Cu, Ag, Co, Pb,Mn, and Tl, Y is at least one metal component selected from As, Sb, Bi, Zn, and Nb, Q is at least one metal component selected from Cr, La, Ce, Fe, Ni, and Mg, a ranges from 0.1 to 3, b ranges from 0.5 to 3, c ranges from 0 to 1, d ranges from 0 to 3, e ranges from 0 to 3, f ranges from 0.5 to 3, g ranges from 0.001 to 3, and x satisfies valence conditions of a, b, c, d, e, f, and g. A preparing method of a heteropolyacid catalyst comprises the steps of: (a) mixing MoO3, V2O5 and H3PO4 with distilled water to prepare an aqueous solution; (b) adding an aqueous solution prepared by mixing Cs and K precursors, a metal precursor, and pyridine into the prepared aqueous solution of the step(a) to prepare a slurry; and (c) drying and firing the prepared slurry.
