A capacitor bank(230) controls the oscillation frequency with a plurality of levels in the frequency band mode selected by the weight current cell. A variable frequency tank control the oscillation frequency controlled by the capacitor bank with the plurality of levels again. A control signal generator(270) generates a control signal with a BDD(Binary Decision Diagram) method.

    • A voltage controlled oscillator using a VLSRR(Varactor-Loaded Split-Ring Resonator) is provided to obtain a very thin thickness by etching a metal on a substrate. A split ring resonator(101) is comprised of an inner ring and an outer ring. A microstrip transmission line(111) is separated from the split ring resonator with a predetermined interval. Both ends of a varactor diode(102) are connected to the inner ring and the outer ring of the split ring resonator. An amplifier is connected on the microstrip line and generates the oscillation signal. The oscillation frequency of the amplifier is controlled according to both ends of the varactor diode. In the varactor diode, one end connected to the inner ring of the spit ring resonator is grounded. The other end connected to the outer ring is connected to the power supply unit.

    • A voltage controlled oscillator is provided to obtain a signal with high power without an additional circuit by connecting a transmission line of 1/4 wavelength to a source terminal of an FET for amplifying a buffer and matching the power with the length of a stub for biasing a coupling signal. A voltage controlled oscillator includes an oscillator, an amplifier, and a pair of transmission lines. The amplifier is cross-combined for oscillating a differential signal and is comprised of a pair of FET(2) to amplify the output of the oscillator and an inductor(1). The pair of transmission lines(7) are short-circuited in the source terminal of the FET. The FET of the amplifier connects a drain terminal for amplifying an oscillation frequency. The signal connection line is serially connected to the drain terminal of the FET of the amplifier. The transmission line includes a capacitor with a fixed value.

    • A voltage controlled oscillator having a switching bias is provided to reduce flicker noise and to improve a phase noise characteristic by applying switching bias technique. An LC resonance circuit(120) oscillates a resonant frequency according to an input voltage. A loss compensation circuit(140) is composed of first and second transistors to amplify the oscillated resonant frequency. A bias circuit(160) is composed of third and fourth transistors to provide bias current to the first and second transistors. A peak detector(180) is composed of fifth and sixth transistors and third and fourth capacitors in order to detect a peak value from an oscillation waveform of the LC resonance circuit, and to apply the peak value to the third and fourth transistors of the bias circuit. A switching circuit(190) turns on/off the third and fourth circuits of the bias circuit according to the oscillation waveform.

    • A dynamically programmable RF receiver includes an adjustable bias voltage-controlled oscillator (ABVCO) that operates in both low-interference and high-interference modes. The ABVCO uses a drive current to generate an output signal whose frequency varies based on a control voltage. When a jammer detector detects an interference signal, a state machine adjusts the ABVCO from the low-interference mode to the high-interference mode. Reciprocal mixing between the interference signal and phase noise in the output signal is reduced in the high-interference mode by increasing the drive current to reduce the phase noise. The ABVCO switches to the high-interference mode when a bias control circuit sends a bias control signal to the ABVCO, causing the ABVCO to generate the output signal using a greater amount of drive current. A programmable register contains a control value that determines the magnitude of the bias control signal and ultimately the magnitude of the drive current.
