    • An electro-active contact lens system (100) and a method for making the electro-active contact lens system is disclosed. The system includes a contact lens (120), an electro-active element (110) attached to the contact lens, a view detector (130) attached to the contact lens and in electronic communication with the electro-active element, and a power source attached to the contact lens. In certain embodiments, the view detector may be a rangefinder which determines the distance of an object being viewed and these embodiments further include a means to stabilize the rangefinder between the opening of the eyelids when the electro-active contact lens system is worn by a wearer. The electro-active contact lens system provides electro-active vision correction of one or more focal lengths.

    • PURPOSE: A sunglass capable of adjusting light transmissivity is provided to be capable of adjusting the light transmissivity using a physical characteristic of a liquid crystal whose light transmissivity is changed according to an applied voltage. CONSTITUTION: An upper substrate(15-1) is adjacent to an upper polarization plate(14-1), and an upper transparent electrode is coated on the upper substrate. A lower substrate(15-2) is disposed apart from the upper substrate, and a lower transparent electrode is coated on the lower substrate. A lower polarization plate(14-2) is adjacent to the lower substrate, and has a polarization direction vertical to the upper polarization plate. A liquid crystal(17) is filled between the upper substrate and the lower substrate. A drive portion(20) generates a drive voltage whose polarity is inverted according to a time, and applies the drive voltage between the upper transparent electrode and the lower transparent electrode. A voltage adjusting portion comprises a switching mode power supply, and supplies an adjustment voltage to the drive portion so as to adjust the drive voltage. A control part receives a light transmissivity adjusting signal from the outside, and provides to the voltage adjusting portion a switching signal for controlling an output voltage of the voltage adjusting portion according to the light transmissivity adjusting signal. A power portion comprises a battery, and supplies a power voltage to the voltage adjusting portion and the control portion.
