    • PURPOSE: An apparatus for controlling a frequency automatic tracking and a control method therefor are provided to accurately track and compensate a frequency difference by removing an amplitude distortion component by a noise component and the frequency difference from a receiving signal and changing an output of an FDD(Frequency Difference Detector) and the frequency difference by one-to-one. CONSTITUTION: An accumulator(32) accumulates a despreaded receiving signal by a DPCCH(Dedicated Physical Control CHannel) factor. A movement mean filter(36) removes a noise from the output of the accumulator(32) and increases the number of outputs of an FDD(40). The FDD(40) receives the output of the movement mean filter(36), divides the received output into a real number component and an imaginary number component, performs a function operation process of the real number component and the imaginary number component, and outputs the processed signal as a signal in proportion to a frequency difference of the receiving signal. A receiving signal amplitude detecting unit(60) performs the function operation process of the real number component and the imaginary number component, and detects an amplitude distortion component of the receiving signal. A DSP(Digital Signal Processor) normalizes the signal in proportion to the frequency difference of the receiving signal, generates a hopping address for mapping a value obtained after adding a gain according to a multi-stage tracking mode to the normalized value to a frequency, and outputs the generated hopping address. A frequency difference compensation signal generating unit(100) reads a frequency difference compensation signal indicated by the hopping address from a memory, and multiplies the read frequency difference compensation signal by the output signal of the accumulator(32).
